The “Akaal Meditation Version” is the first release from Snatam Kaur’s new Mantra and Meditation Series. These tracks, adaptations from her new album Nirankaar, are designed to chant along with and feature musically streamlined and supportive arrangements of mantras intended expressly for meditation.

Akaal means, “Beyond or without death,” and is usually chanted for a loved one who has left their body to connect with the infinite and for those left behind to bond with the soul vibration of deathlessness. Chanting Akaal, however, can also cultivate a beautiful connection with the nature of the soul, beyond the limits of death. Practitioners can sink into their soul space, into the deathlessness space, and experience the vast power of their chanting.

Snatam is providing workshops on each of the meditations from the series through her online school of sacred music and yoga, Kirtan and Kundalini. These workshops will be available for rebroadcast on her YouTube channel.

The music for Snatam Kaur’s Mantra and Meditation Series was recorded just before the start of the pandemic as a collaboration with producer Ram Dass on piano and vocals, Grecco Buratto on guitar and vocals, and Sukhmani on percussion and vocals. In addition to singing, Snatam also plays harmonium on the “Akaal Meditation”.
