“Ongkaar Nirankaar” is the fourth single from Snatam Kaur’s new album, Nirankaar. The gently flowing melody was composed by Snatam and winds through the track’s uplifting vocal and softly blossoming instrumental arrangements. The result is a resonant expression of the inner quiet and stillness within this mantra. Ongkaar means the Divine manifestation as the Doer, the knowing and sensing in action on the physical plane, and Nirankaar is the unseen, unknown manifestations of the Divine. The mantra speaks to coming to a place of peace between these dual energies. It is particularly powerful to chant and meditate to Ongkaar Nirankaar when feeling hopeless or defeated, when every effort has been exhausted. Ongkaar Nirankaar brings tranquility to these dark moments by helping us arrive at a deep acceptance of Divine will. Then, we can step into the next moment, new and rejuvenated.
